By last September, my carefully planned writing schedule had gone awry. My writing went from a steady stream to a trickle and then a drip.
In January, the Novel in a Year course started with Richard Thomas. I struggled to complete the course work and then was too ashamed to submit it. I thought if I added MORE writing responsibility to my plate, it would force me to be more productive. I signed up to the 100 day book course on The Write Practice and added my name to Camp Nanowrimo in April. I searched for online writing groups to join to replace the local group I abandoned after leaving the house became too difficult to accomplish.
It will come as no surprise that these actions caused my writing to dry up altogether.
The thought of writing became difficult, but sharing my work seemed impossible. What was I going to do when I had committed myself to so many wonderful writing opportunities?
Last May I made a writing schedule and plan for the next 12 months. Most things had changed, been cast aside or failed, but one item on the list had remained a constant. Celebrating the first anniversary of my website with a book launch. If I could achieve that, perhaps things wouldn’t look so dark.
It was time to get to work.
