In an effort to recover the joy of writing, I had weighed myself down with the burden of deadlines and it hadn’t worked. I changed tactics, and used the celebration of my website’s first anniversary to motivate me.

It is amazing the difference a change of attitude makes. Unfortunately, poor health keeps me from producing as much as I’d like to, but I am producing.

The Write Practice transferred me to another round of the 100 day book program and, while I don’t think I’ll finish my book in 100 days, I’ve got the majority of the first draft written.

Richard Thomas has been incredibly understanding and patient, and I’m committed to completing his Novel in a Year course.

Thanks to Richard Thomas suggesting I join Twitter in January, I’ve made some wonderful friends in the writing community. I’m so grateful that some of them have agreed to collaborate with me and help me make this May madness month with their wonderful giveaways.

Over the past year I’ve published seven short stories, which I’ve given away free to my newsletter subscribers. On May 28th I’m launching a collection of these stories, with five new ones, called ‘Return to Hades and other adventures’.

I’ve completed my goal of celebrating the first anniversary of my website. Hurray! Thank you for celebrating it with me.

I wonder what is in store for me in the next 12 months?

  1. Congratulations! You’ve had a really tough year and the next twelve months can only be better. Very excited to learn you’ve almost completed the first draft of a new book. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the things we meant to do but didn’t that we overlook all the other things we achieve but somehow take for granted or dismiss them as unimportant. I think you have accomplished a lot more than you give yourself credit for, and I look forward to your book launch in the near future!
