18 small bites of horror that cover topics such as suicide, underage sex and serial killer protégés.
This is a collection of horror very short stories, or flash fiction. A lot of the stories feature sex, there are original takes on familiar creatures and every tale leaves you wanting more.
WB Welch’s writing is polished and succinct. She has some wonderful ideas in these stories, which I wish she had expanded into something longer. Other stories are the perfect length, giving you a sharp taste of something dark and disturbing.
My favourite stories of the collection are Laveau, about an immortal creature called a monogule that wears the skin of the dead. The Birth, which sees Death with child. Girl in the Pink Coat about twins and loss.

She was also one of the authors of The Last Letter, which I reviewed earlier this month and highly recommend.
