And so April’s Camp NaNoWriMo nears its end.
I didn’t get much writing done this week because I’m busy preparing for my book launch next week, which is quite frankly freaking me out, and I don’t know if I have the fortitude to go through with it.
When I say I’m busy, I mean I’m going to war with myself. I don’t feel I’m ready. I don’t think I’ve done enough. It is a second by second battle within myself to advance or retreat, and I’m ending up getting caught in stasis, which is perhaps the worst of both worlds.
It’s unfortunate I’m ending the month in a less balanced place to where I started it.
Tell me, friends, as the month ends, how went your creative pursuits in April? Are you pleased with your stories/poems/posts? Tell me all in the comments.
I didn’t know NaNoWriMo was a thing in April but I haven’t been following their official for a couple of years. I have managed to keep up with my commitment to post something every day, though.

Yes, they’ve a camp in April and July as well as the usual November challenge.
Posting everyday is a wonderful achievement. Congrats!

Oh no, you HAVE to go through with the book launch. I pre-ordered the book! Be brave. It’ll be okay!
There are 1.5 more days left in the month. I hope to finish my current WIP draft on a wasps book, write 2 poems, and get a blog post done.Unless a bus falls out of the sky on top of me, I ought to make it.

Thank you, Priscilla.
You can do it! That, plus all your poems! What a great month for creativity. Yay!

Do you know,,, in all my 6 or 7 years of posting nearly every day on the blog, I’ve never been asked or thought to ask myself, how went my creative pursuits in this or that month? An excellent question!
I never give a great deal away explicitly when asked “How do you feel?” but in this case…
Flannery O’Connor is one of my writing heroes. She wrote (and don’t ask me where): When a book leaves your hands, it belongs to God. He may use it to save a few souls or to try a few others, but I think that for the writer to worry is to take over God’s business.
I’ve taken Flannery’s statement to heart and it probably accounts for why I’ve never got a freakin’ thing published. (Just 2 poems!)
All the best for your book launch. I get into a state of awe when someone pushes themselves hard enough to do that. And yeah, I suppose for me creating in April was okay.

Thank you, Bruce. That’s a wonderful quote. I think posting every day is a wonderful achievement. I hope to catch up with your blog in May. My blog reading suffered this month.

I think you did very well on Camp Nanowrimo, especially considering that you are prepping for your book launch – and 22,000 words is a good result for the month, even if less than you hoped. I understand your anxieties about the book launch, especially as you are self-publishing (I would be terrified!) but please don’t let that stop you! I am really looking forward to reading it. You’ve got this 🙂

You never feel like you’ve done enough for a book launch. I’m still catching up with all the things that needed to be done for Rose! Just take a deep breath, remember that making any book or book tour a success is a never-ending process, and enjoy yourself as much as possible.
Also, my April creative pursuits are going well, thank you very much. Wrote one short story, finished a novelette (or is it a novella? I’m confused on the word lengths), and started a new story.
Hopefully May goes well, too. For the both of us.

Thank you, Rami.
Yay! Woot woot! That’s an incredible achievement.
I think a novella is between 20-40k words and a novelette is between 10-20k words, but it seems to vary by publisher.

Sounds like some intense stuff with your book launch and all. Hmmm. How did the month go? I guess I wish that I had challenged myself creatively a little more than I did. There’s room for improvement.

I’m sorry things aren’t going as you would’ve liked, but just now that this too shall pass my friend. It will come together in time.
My stuff is going okay at best. The overtime I’m putting in is severely slowing my progress.

Will your work slow down at all now that April is over? I can’t wait to read Reaper 2: The Reapening (I know the real title is super, I just have to make up my own until I know it).

Hard to say, but I’m doubtful after putting in so much overtime over the past six months. I tried telling them that I’m overworked but they wont listen aka they dont care. And we are still understaffed.
Haha nice try on the title but not quite! What do you think of Reaper Apocalypse as the series title?

That’s such a shame, Jonny. 😰
Reaper Apocalypse is a great name! I love it.

Yeah I honestly just need a job that wont use and abuse me.
Cool! I may send out an email to you and some others and see what the consensus is.
I do know the sequels name and have for about a year lol but I wanna keep it a secret

I understand. When you have a name as cool as Reaper 2; The Wrath of Reaper, you need to keep it under your hat (hehe).
