Two different, but complimentary short stories make up a very satisfying package in this 49th installment of Short Sharp Shocks!
In Moonlight, Gunshot, Mallet, Flame, an assassin reaches her breaking point.
Characterization is key in this dark, gripping psychological tale of how far is too far when you kill people for money. The details are woven into the action with an assured hand, and I could have stayed longer with these characters.
The second story, A Little Death, features a witch looking for a date for a very important occasion.
This story is pure fun, with lots of magic, humor and romance. I loved the witch’s bat familiar, the world building and all the little touches that made this story so vibrant and entertaining.
Despite the tonal difference between the two stories, they both share great characters, messages about the importance of family, and the consequences of actions. I look forward to reading more of Hilton’s work.
I award Moonlight, Gunshot, Mallet, Flame…

Moonlight, Gunshot, Mallet, Flame is available for $1.24 ebook and $7 print book on Amazon.
Sounds good

I have been enjoying the Short Sharp Shocks! books. I don’t know if it’s a single person or a team who chooses what to publish, but whoever it is they’re doing a great job!

I’ve only read two so far, but I’ve enjoyed them both. Must check out the others. Thanks, Priscilla.
