The seventh installment of Aicher’s Creepy Little Bedtime Story series delivers as promised.
Single mother, Vanessa, longs for the brief moments she has to herself at the end of the day after her young son, Asa, has gone to bed.
However, things never go as smoothly as we’d like.
It’s difficult to review this chilling shot of horror fiction without giving too much away, so I will point out instead the wonderful front cover. Drawn by the author’s son, it is perfect for capturing the mood of the story.
Like many horror tales before it, Behind focuses on building suspense through implication rather than explicit description. This works to great effect, forcing the reader to conjure up the true terror.
The characters of Vanessa and Asa are well drawn. It’s easy to empathize with Vanessa, even if her actions are not always admirable.

Look at that cover. I agree, it’s awesome! This is the same author as “A Good Provider” which I really liked. I bet “Behind” is good too!

Yes, it’s another fun, creepy short story. I liked numbers 4 and 7 so much, I bought all the other numbers too!
