Do not adjust your screens, this is a blog takeover!
I’m thrilled to be part of E C Bell’s blog tour for her new paranormal mystery novel, Tying the Knot, which will be released April 27th.
Yesterday I shared E C Bell’s guest post about how she learned to love rescue dogs.
Today is all about the book, which is the 7th installment in the Marie Jenner paranormal mystery series.
Read to the end of this post for a chance to win some Marie Jenner Mystery goodies!
About the Book

Marie Jenner just wants a Vegas holiday.
When psychic Crystal Demoines tells James Lavall that his uncle’s spirit is trapped in Las Vegas, Marie is thrilled. All she’ll have to do is help Jimmy “anything for a buck” Lavall move on to the next plane of existence, and then she and James can have the holiday of her dreams.
But she never dreamed that a lieutenant of the drug kingpin from Edmonton would be staying at the same hotel as her and James, and that James would become his new best friend. Or that she’d have to find Jimmy’s girlfriend Rita—who disappeared the same night Jimmy died—before he would finally move on. Or that the most powerful man in the hotel would be looking for Rita too. To find the money she stole.
And Marie never dreamed that she’d be planning a Vegas wedding in the middle of it all. But she is.
Looks like her dream vacation is about to become a nightmare.
Tying the Knot will be released on April 27th.

My Review

Marie Jenner can see ghosts and help them pass on, and when she hears that her boyfriend’s dead uncle needs her, she leaves Edmonton for Las Vegas and experiences three of the most action packed days of her life.
I haven’t read a Marie Jenner Mystery before, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of this installment. I took to Marie instantly, and it was obvious that the death of uncle Jimmy the year before had made a big impact on her boyfriend/boss, James.
The book starts with the death of Uncle Jimmy in Las Vegas, then jumps ahead a year to show Marie, James and ghost Jimmy in a watery predicament, before zipping back 72 hours to show how they got there.
It’s a device often used in movies and tv shows, and the author’s wit and down to earth main cast helped to ground the big opening within the realms of possibility, while at the same time keeping it fun and intriguing.
Bell’s voice is delightful. I loved the characters of Marie, fellow ghost communicator, Crystal, and uncle Jimmy. The plot is paced well, so whether the chapter concerned murder, drug running or wedding planning, the narrative kept driving forward in a satisfying manner.
My favorite aspect of the book was the description of the ghosts and how they interacted with the in world logic. Some of the descriptions were beautiful, and I look forward to learning more about Bell’s ghosts and Marie’s abilities in the other books.
I award Tying the Knot…

Thank you to the author and to Tyche Books for giving me an ARC of Tying the Knot. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I can read a book with a protagonist I don’t like, but it’s more fun when the protagonist is likeable, apparently like Marie is. Good review!
