Just Add Water by Hunter Shea

When boys, David and Patrick, bought sea serpents from an ad in a Wonder Woman comic, they had no idea the havoc they would unleash upon their town.

I didn’t grow up with comics selling sea monkeys, and the resulting disappointment when they arrived, but I’ve been well educated by television.

Set in Tuckerville New York in 1980, Shea takes us back to a simpler time where 13 year old best friends, David and Patrick, pool their pocket money to buy comics, and cycle everywhere.

This novella is so fun! David and Patrick are great characters. I loved their friendship, their innocence, and their sense of responsibility when everything goes wrong.

I could see (and smell!) all the action. The story continually surprised me, both in its level of gore and humor. The creatures were genuinely scary. The climax was both genius and unexpected.

I award Just Add Water

Just Add Water is available for $2.54 ebook on Amazon.
