Tracker School

Would you die to keep your secret?
Isador has a secret.
Afraid of the adulation from his family and community as one of the chosen few, a Tracker, set to free them from the invaders who oppress them; terrified of being found out and reviled by his peers, the Trackers-Becoming, because he can’t hear the song of creation, the hallmark of his kind.
Unable to fit within either world, Isador dreads his annual time of training with the other Trackers-Becoming.
With constant, unprovoked attacks by a hawk and being partnered with the most gifted boy in the group, can Isador’s time at Tracker School get any worse?

A Tracker Becoming

El is a Tracker, one of the best children of Wind Mother and Father Night, who can hear the Song of creation and harmonize the discordant notes of disease and despair.
She is told she cannot be, because she is a woman, and everyone knows that only men are called to be Trackers.
While searching for some missing children, El encounters Ben, a man without a Song. She must overcome her revulsion to his silence if she is to forge an uneasy bond with him, and find the children before it is too late.
Set in the same world as ‘Tracker School’.
Read ‘A Tracker Becoming‘ and 11 other speculative fiction short stories in Return to Hades and Other Adventures.
I was going to say these sound great, but I have read them, so I can say confidently both stories are fantastic! I would love to read more of this world.

Both openings are good, engaging, but I especially like the first few sentences of “A Tracker Becoming” because it includes sound in the description.
