The Bloganuary prompt for today is:
What brings you joy in life?
It’s lovely to read the posts on the other blogs participating. So many different wonderful things bringing joy to people. For some it’s loved ones, little things, or helping people. For others it’s travel, nature, or their faith.
I love that so many things bring joy to peoples lives.
Depression stops me from experiencing joy, however I’ve learned to focus on things that align with my values and which I think are important.
Practicing love and kindness.
Doing things that will help me, even though they are difficult.
Looking after my animal friends.
Helping others.
I fail more often than I succeed, but I gain satisfaction from completing something which I know is worthwhile.
This is a wonderful challenge, I might join in next year! Suffering from depression is a cross in life but I love the things you are focussed on! Seem very important to me (and something I should focus on more too!). Hope things are much better for you in 2023!

It’s not too late to join in this year. It’s only January 5th!

By the definition of joy that I found, which is different from happiness, the satisfaction and internal peace you feel helping others and connecting with your animals is joy. What you do is important, no matter what.

I agree. What we do for others is important. Love ourselves and love others…

I agree with Herb. In the middle of this day when I was under a lot of stress, I definitely felt no happiness, but at one point I threw my arms out to each side and started singing the old camp song, “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy.”

Hey friend! Great post. I’m glad you’re able to bravely combat your depression whether or not you win out from day to day. My anxiety is kinda similar. Some days are awful but others are really good.
I’d say the world of fiction and my friends give me joy and purpose. Those two things take up most of my time, so I try to focus on them the most. 😊

Hugs back!
I also started dating someone very recently, but I don’t want to bank on that so soon. I’ve been alone for a long time.

I don’t know how you find all these things you find! I would join in but I’m too busy making an Epiphany Pie (it’s a French thing we do every year where you wear those silly paper crowns and order everyone about… sort of).

Somehow I manage to bump into things with all my stumbling around! That would be cool if you joined in. I’d love to read your answers to the prompts.
Happy feast of the Epiphany! Enjoy your pie! 😊

Yes, I think I’ve always been in mild depression. Although it has never been really bad, it is always there. I try to distract myself to keep it at bay. LOL. I think talking about it really helps.

I’m sorry to hear that. Hugs. Distraction can help. I agree that talking about it helps too.
