Month in Review: October

Against a worn cloth calendar are the words month in review.

What a month! October was full of treats. I discovered how to send out my blog posts as emails, which I haven’t been able to do for a couple of years, and I started sending out my newsletter again. There’s a sign up form at the end of this post if you are interested in receiving my blog posts by email, or would like to hear from me once a month in regards to my horror or fantasy writing.

I was invited to submit a story to an anthology, which has long been on my author wish list. I’ll have more information about it soon.

Chatting to J.A. Bryden and Ryan Haigh on Stories: The True and The Fictional was incredible fun. While the podcast won’t go live until November, it was the perfect way to spend Halloween.

Bookworm Bunny’s inaugural Spooktober included a wonderful review of ‘Gone But Not Forgotten’. Check it out here.

Unfortunately, there was a trick too. The launch of ‘Suffer Their Going’ had to be delayed a few weeks.

Here is the rest of October in review:

Bad Moon Rising

Thank you to Teri Polen for once again letting me take part in Bad Moon Rising on her blog. Each day in October is dedicated to a different author. It is such a great event, full of fun and giveaways. I can’t wait to send a copy of ‘Suffer Their Going’ to the lucky winner next month. If you are reading this before November 1st, you still have time to visit and comment!

Booked Open Mic Night

This was so much fun! Thank you so much to Sarah and Saffron for letting me take part. I read from ‘Suffer Their Going’. I am so glad I went first, because I could relax and enjoy listening to the other authors. If you missed the live event, you can still listen to the recording on Youtube. Let me know if you’d like to hear me reading more of my work!

The Art Array With Nathan Crocket

Another podcast to shout about! I had the great pleasure to be interviewed by Nathan Crocket on The Art Array. We chatted about writing, dogs, and Batman. Be sure to check out Nathan’s other videos as well.

Books Read

October was a disappointing month for reading. I only completed three books. Health and focus problems made it difficult to concentrate, despite reading several engrossing books. I’ve a lot of catching up to do in November and December to reach my goal. With that, I did manage to review three books.

I was delighted to take part in the spotlight tour for BBNYA semi finalist, ‘Dogged’, by Michael R. Fletcher.

FanFiAddict.com Reviews

S.H. Cooper is a must read author. ‘Death in its Many Forms’ was the first short story collection I’ve read from this author. Different aspects of death appear in these entertaining and thought provoking tales. Read my full review on FanFiAddict.com.

‘The Lepidopterist’s Beautiful Daughter’ by David Rae is another book by a must read author. I was fortunate enough to read an early version of this book, and I was overjoyed to read it again in its published form. Read my full review on FanFiAddict.com.

I love stories about aliens taking over your loved ones and changing them, so when I heard about ‘The Buddy Snatchers’ by Devin James Leonard, I had to read it. Read my full review on FanFiAddict.com.

How was your month? I hope October was full of treats and not so many tricks. Tell me all about it in the comments.
