What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading “The Tenacious Tale of Tanna the Tendersword” by Dewey Conway and Bill Adams. It is full of wonderful illustrations by Dewey Conway. The cover gives you a glimpse of the style. I am enjoying it so far. It is a fun middle grade adventure.

I’m also reading “Early Medieval Ireland AD 400 – 1100: The evidence from archaeological excavations” by Aidan O’Sullivan, Finbar McCormick, Thomas Kerr, and Lorcan Harney. I started this book for research purposes a while ago, and I’ve started reading it again as I am hoping to start writing again soon. It is a long book, but fascinating.

I got an ARC for Michael R Fletcher’s upcoming fantasy book, “Dust of the Dead“. This is the second of Fletcher’s books I’ve read. I am once again blown away by his world building. I love the concept of the Listening World and working magic with sign language and sounds.

What have you recently finished reading?

I greatly enjoyed Richard H Fay’s short stories when I read his two collections a few years ago, so I was interested in reading his speculative poetry collection. I hadn’t read much speculative poetry before “Cosmic Journeys and Gothic Visions“, but I will certainly be reading more. This book was a delight. Fay’s use of language is inspiring. I loved the mix of science fiction, fantasy, and horror themed poems.

Other books I finished recently were “A Lady’s Guide to Monsters and Moonlight” by Julianne Sharpe and “The Olfactorist” by Jared Leys. The former is a Regency fantasy with great characters, an intriguing monster, and a touch of romance. I will be watching for future books by this author. The latter is a dark fantasy short story concerning scent magic. Click on the name above to download your own copy from Bookfunnel. What do you think you’ll read next?

“The First Wordweaver” by Rachael Waldburger. This Viking inspired fantasy features a Phoenix, and I’ve had it on my TBR for way too long (I can’t believe it came out over 2 years ago!). A talented artist and poet, I am already a fan of Waldburger’s work, and I am interested in reading this novella.
