ShadowBane” by Cal Logan. I started this book in January as it was the Willow Wraith Press Indie Book Club choice for that month. Got back into reading it this week. It is an interesting Japan based fantasy world with a huge tiger and lots of nasty demon creatures running around. It is quite long, so it will probably take me a while to get through it, but I’m interested to see where the story goes.

The Owl Men of Shanidar” by Coy Hall. This book recently turned one, and I can’t believe I’ve had it on my TBR for so long! Gripping opening, and I’m looking forward to diving into the story.

Progressed with “Early Medieval Ireland AD 400 – 1100: The evidence from archaeological excavations” by Aidan O’Sullivan, Finbar McCormick, Thomas Kerr, and Lorcan Harney this week. It’s such a long book, and I need to take notes for research, so I’m going to be reading this one for a while.

Almost finished listening to “Starlight Jewel” by E.L Lyons. Great narration on the audiobook. A fascinating fantasy world with lots going on, but a little too much romance for me.

The First Wordweaver” by Rachael Waldburger was a delight. Interesting story concerning Vilden, Brann, and Grye – three young adults on a quest to fulfill a prophecy. I loved Vilden’s interest in the natural world. The phoenix is used in an interesting way. The stakes are quite low in this story, but it sets up an interesting world, and I look forward to reading the rest of the Ryvenlock Trilogy.

Dust of the Dead” by Michael R Fletcher is an incredible book. I knew from “Dogged” that Fletcher’s world building is on point. His character work shines in this novel. I didn’t like either protagonist, but they were real people, and I was incredibly moved at the climax of the book.

Culling of the House of Boars” by Jack Finn is an exciting vampire novelette. Really enjoyed this story that manages to pack a lot of lore, politics, and history into a short book.

Son of the Sea” by E.M. Kkoulla. Got this novella free when I signed on to the author’s newsletter. Set in the same world of Britannia as the author’s Ships of Britannia series, this is the fascinating story of Marinus. If you like the idea of a fantasy world where pagan gods are real, the roman empire never fell, and woman turn into living ships, than you should read this novella (and the Ships of Britannia series too).

Our Lady of the Artilects” by Andrew Gillsmith. This one has been on my TBR for a few years. I thought I’d move it up the list when I saw a new edition is going to be released by Logos Rising. Having written a short story about a robot in search of a soul, I am intrigued to read how Gillsmith approaches the topic.
