WWW Wednesday – 22nd April 2026

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What have you recently finished reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Culling of the House of Boars” by Jack Finn is an exciting vampire novelette about selection and politics within a vampire society. I love how Finn brings history into his work. I’ll probably finish it this evening.

The First Wordweaver” by Rachael Waldburger is a viking inspired fantasy. As an Irish person who lives near the site of a monastery that was repeatedly raided and then destroyed by the local people in an effort to drive the vikings out, I’m not a fan of their culture. However, I’m interested to see where this story goes.

Early Medieval Ireland AD 400 – 1100: The evidence from archaeological excavations” by Aidan O’Sullivan, Finbar McCormick, Thomas Kerr, and Lorcan Harney was neglected by me again this week.

Dust of the Dead” by Michael R Fletcher is progressing nicely. I can’t take to either of the main characters, but they are remarkably well written.

Still listening to “Starlight Jewel” by E.L Lyons. I don’t want to miss anything by doing other things while I listen to the audio book, so I don’t have as much time for listening to it as I’d like.

What have you recently finished reading?

Pets for Legion” by Shawn D Brink proved to be an exciting horror thriller with Christian themes. After reading a couple of books on exorcism, I can tell you that Brink got the demons spot on. Fans of Dean Koontz will love this book.

The Tenacious Tale of Tanna the Tendersword” by Dewey Conway and Bill Adams was so much fun, and kudos to Dewey Conway for the charming illustrations. This book ended up being deeper and more emotional than I expected. I loved the animals in the book. I sympathized with Galdifort, the grumpy chronicler (being a somewhat grumpy writer myself), and grew to love the irrepressibly upbeat Tanna.

What do you think you’ll read next?

ShadowBane” by Cal Logan. This book was Willow Wraith Press Indie Book Club choice for January. Due to a concatenation of events, I didn’t get this read in January and I’m hoping to return to it this month. As it is quite a long book, and I’m still behind on my reading goal for the month, I’ll probably look for some shorter books to read before the end of April.
